My Punchbowl Review and Giveaway

I got a great opportunity to review this awesome site, My PunchBowl.

Here is some info from their press release:
Framingham, Mass. (PRWeb) March 23, 2009 – In this era of large social networking sites and impersonal online relationships, we all need an easy and dependable way to keep track of the birthdays that matter the most. Enter MyPunchbowl Birthday Reminders. The new product, from the company behind the award-winning party planning site MyPunchbowl, offers a simple service to remember the birthdays of the people in your life that matter the most – your sister, your brother, your parents, your grandparents, and your close friends. “I’ve got hundreds of ‘friends’ in my social network, and it’s hard to sort out the birthdays that really matter,” said Dawn Dowling, a MyPunchbowl user. “MyPunchbowl Birthday Reminders helps me remember the birthdays of the 30 to 40 people that mean the most to me.” MyPunchbowl Birthday Reminders includes the ability to create groups of birthdays for simple organization. Users can create groups or select from the suggested groups, which include Friends, Immediate Family, Extended Family, Work Colleague, and even Pets. Not only do the groups keep your birthday reminders organized, but also you can quickly share a group with others. This feature is perfect for couples or friends where one of the pair is more organized. Additional features of MyPunchbowl Birthday Reminders enable users to:

• Sign up for the service using your Facebook account
• Request birthdays from family and friends via email and watch your list grow
• Use Facebook and Twitter to collect birthdays
• Organize birthday reminders into helpful groups
• Easily share your reminder list groups with others
• Customize settings to specify the time and frequency of your birthday reminders

MyPunchbowl Birthday Reminders connects seamlessly with the award-winning, web-based applications available on MyPunchbowl. Upon receiving a birthday reminder, users can easily begin planning a party using MyPunchbowl Party Planning or send truly personalized birthday greetings using MyPunchbowl eCard Studio.

“MyPunchbowl Birthday Reminders is the perfect complement to the personalized event planning and free eCards available on MyPunchbowl,” said Matt Douglas, CEO, Punchbowl Software. “With the addition of Birthday Reminders, MyPunchbowl offers another innovation to help our customers celebrate life’s milestones in the most personal way.”

I was able to review their birthday reminder. I have this problem of always forgetting birthdays, so this was perfect for me! It was super easy to go in and add the birthdays that I do know, but it also gives the option to send an e-mail requesting birthdays, or post a birthday-date request through Facebook or Twitter. It’s really awesome, and really easy to use. Plus, I can see myself using this forever. It's a great way to keep track and it's not just written on sticky notes that I always manage to lose.

Try it!
You can try out the free birthday reminder from My PunchBowl, or sign up for a membershiphere.

My 'Thanks' Post

I have to give some thanks today for some really awesome prizes I've won through other giveaways.

My very first blog giveaway win came from Valerie at Sweeps4Bloggers and was a gorgeous freshwater pearl bracelet. I don't typically like pearls, but I love this bracelet. The pearls aren't perfectly round and just the way it's put together... it's gorgeous.

My second win came from Making Memories and is this freaking awesome desktop carousel. I've had my eye on this thing for months and never in a million years imagined I would actually win! I was ECSTATIC.

My third win came from FeedYourPig and was a $25 gift code to MyBodiBar.com. This place rocks! You get to build your own lotions, shower gels, whatever you want! I built a tanning lotion and ordered, and got an e-mail from Scott, one of the owners, saying they were throwing in a bodi gel for free. WHAT?! I was so excited to get them in the mail. They are both scented with cherry pineapple, which smells absolutely amazing.

So, I owe huge thanks to Sweeps4Bloggers, Making Memories, FeedYourPig and MyBodiBar for all of the great things I've received from them.

Friday 5

Welcome to this week's edition of Friday 5! To participate, go to their site and post the questions, with your answers, on your blog. Please leave me a comment if you do it so that I can check your answers out.

What’s the most annoying sound in the world?
This is really weird, but I seriously hate the sound of someone whistling songs. The whistle to get your dog's attention, or kid's, or whatever; that's okay. When it turns into a song, please just kill me.

Which of other people’s mannerisms do you find very annoying?
I just recently developed an absolute hatred for nail-biting. My husband does it, and I used to, but when I realized how annoying it was for me to hear him do it, I quit. I also get annoyed by lying for no reason, pretending to be someone you're not to fit in, and doing things just because no one else does them (sometimes that just makes you the jackass, k?). I'm annoyed a lot. :)

What do you do that really annoys others?
I'm not sure. I know I tend to talk a lot, which annoys me so I'm sure it annoys others. I also brag about my cat, which is stupid and I feel like a cat dork but for some reason, I can't help myself.

In what way has your own behavior recently caused you annoyance?
Bragging about my cat. For real. I love the little guy and like to talk about him. I am the cat lady or something. If any of you ever hear me doing it, just hit me. I've also been over-using the exclamation point, which drives me up the wall.

Who’s the most annoying person you know?
Hmm. There aren't any people who I hang out with that annoy me, but the one person that stands out is this stupid girl we camped with at the sand dunes over Easter weekend. I could have thrown her in the fire, she was so annoying. Loud and obnoxious and convinced everyone at the dunes wanted her body. Yuck.

Super Exciting News

I have some great news for Shelby and I, and I wanted to let you all know about it too. :) But, in order to see what it is, you're going to have to click here. I know, I'm obnoxious. LOL Thanks for clicking!

Faux Alfredo

I found a recipe a long time ago somewhere online and have been meaning to try it for awhile now. I finally decided Sunday was a good day for it. I never wrote it down, I just had my trusty photographic memory (cough, cough), so this is based very loosely on something I found online one day. I don't know where or who it came from, but I've decided to make it my own and call it "Faux Alfredo". It tastes really similar to your typical Alfredo sauce, but made with things that I pretty much always have in the pantry. And sorry, but I forgot to take pictures. :(

Faux Alfredo
Serves 3-4

2-3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
Seasoning for the chicken (I used fresh cracked pepper and some garlic salt, and it was great!)
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 can Cream of Chicken soup
4 oz. cream cheese, cubed
1/4 cup milk

Place seasoned chicken breasts and butter in crock pot. Cook on high for 2 hours, then turn to low and cook for another 2 hours (don't ask, this is just how I did it and it worked). Add soup, cream cheese and milk. Cook on low for 1 hour, or until all liquids have combined into a gravy-like consistency. Shred the chicken. Serve over pasta, mashed potatoes or rice.

I cooked 8 oz. of Fettucine and had sauce to spare, and it fed the three of us plus enough for my lunch the next day. I poured the leftover sauce over some cooked white rice for lunch today and it was delish, though next time I think I'll try brown rice.

Enjoy! Oh, and if you or someone you know are the originator of what I loosely based my recipe on, my thanks to you!

Piggy Paint Winner!

I'm such a space. I seriously thought the Piggy Paint giveaway went through today, but NO! It ended Sunday. So, I'm sorry.

Friday 5

I've been trying to find something fun to participate in for Fridays (I plan to add some really cool things here soon so stay tuned!) and finally came upon this website and thought it may suit that need. Basically, every Friday it gives you 5 new questions and you are supposed to answer them. Simple, right? So, here goes!

When did you last sleep in a tent?
Actually in a tent? Probably five years ago. I've slept in the back of a truck, in my Blazer, in an enclosed trailer, and in the motorhome a TON since then, but I hardly ever sleep in a tent!

What comes to mind when you think about relieving yourself in the great outdoors?
I used to think it was awkward, but now that we go to the dunes like every weekend, I'm used to it. I have to pee a LOT so we're always stopping while out on rides for me to go potty.

Where’s the best place you ever went camping?
The dunes! Duh!

What’s your favorite camp food?
Tinfoil dinners. I make a mean tinfoil dinner.

What’s your sleeping bag like?
No sleeping bag! I'm all spoiled nowadays; we have a motorhome so I get to sleep in a bed every night, with my blankies. :)

Now, all of you should participate and make sure you leave me a comment if you do so that I can go read your answers!

Have a good weekend everyone! And remember, if you're in or around Springville this weekend, come to the craft fair, it will be great!

This is our first craft fair and Shelby and I are both really excited and nervous, and would love to see a bunch of familiar faces. Plus, we'll give you candy!! How's that for an incentive?

If you know anyone who may be interested in coming, please feel free to send them this post, or just the cute little announcement below. Whatever. Just make sure you come and bring your whole neighborhood with you, K? Thanks! :)

Piggy Paint Giveaway

This is Piggy Paint. They offer super cute fingernail polishes that are kid-friendly. Great for babies who are non-stop sucking on their fingers!

A little about Piggy Paint, from their site:
My name is Melanie Hurley, founder of Piggy Paint™. I am a stay-at-home mom with two very fancy little girls, ages 2 and 4, who love to have their fingernails painted. I’ve always hated the thought of my kiddos putting their hands in their mouths after I painted their nails with traditional kid polishes. Not only did the ingestion of the chemicals worry me, but the smell nearly left me light-headed after painting two sets of fingernails and toenails.
One day while we were painting nails over a foam plate, my daughter dropped a glob of her solvent-based polish onto the plate. Shortly after, the paint began to bubble and “ate” through the plate. I looked in dismay at the hole in the plate and decided to test all of her other “kid” polishes on the foam. Within minutes, ALL of the solvent-based polishes began to bubble and eventually left big holes in the plate. From that day on, I decided that any flammable substance that could eat through foam was unacceptable for my children’s fingernails, which would inevitably end up in their mouths.

My quest was on, and Piggy Paint™ was born. As you may have guessed, our polish is NOT flammable and sits beautifully on the unaffected foam. We hope you enjoy this water-based polish that is specially formulated of natural ingredients. Finally, a kid-friendly polish without the accompanying drawbacks of traditional polishes. It is free of formaldehyde, toluene, phthalates, biphenyl A, ethyl acetate and acetone... and made in the USA!

Buy it!
You can purchase any of the great items from Piggy Paint here. They are also offering my readers 20% off their order! Please use the code EXTRA20L to redeem the discount. This code will expire 05/01/2009, so make sure to head over to their site before then and stock up!

Bubble Planners Review

Because of the great girls over at Extraordinary Mothers, I was able to do a review for a Bubble Planner. This planner is great! Not only is it cute (zebra background with pink writing) but it allows me to think not just in time-slots or schedules like most planners. Coming from someone with ADHD, this is really helpful! It is more picture-oriented, and I like that. Plus, it’s more than just a planner. It has separate sections for goal-setting, project management, task management, calendars and lists. I really like using this planner.

I also had the great opportunity to review their grocery list pad. This thing rocks! At the top, it has a list of really common grocery items and you can just put a check next to the things you need. Then, it has two columns below that with 40 blank spaces for more items. I love that it has two columns because I am a bargain shopper. I spend about an hour before I go shopping reviewing the ads so that I can price-match it all at Walmart. With the two columns, I use one for the item I need and across from it, I put the lowest price and what ad it is in.

I would definitely recommend either of the things I reviewed from Bubble Planners, and I’m sure the rest of their items are just as helpful and fun.

Buy it!
You can purchase any of the great items from Bubble Planners here. I highly recommend them!
